Mishary Rashid Alafasy
Mishary Rashid Alafasy was born on September 5th, 1976, and is known professionally as Mishary Rashed Ghareeb Mohammed Rashid Al-Afasi. An eminent Islamic scholar and Imam from Kuwait who recites Surahs (chapters) of the Quran in a melodious voice that has captivated millions across the globe. The Imam’s interest in the Holy Quran and his desire to learn it well made memorizing the entire Book an easy task for him. He is known for his melodious and emotional voice, but he has also gained the attention of bigwigs in the field of Islamic knowledge. These include Sheikh Ibrahim Ali Shehata Al-Samanodi, the Sheikh Abdur Area Radwan—and great sheikh Ahmed Abdulaziz Al-Zaiat. After a year of advanced studies at the Islamic and Quranic university in Madinah, Saudi Arabia, he decided to pursue his higher education.
Alafasy has been responsible for the production of numerous Islamic TV channels and radio stations. In a similar manner, countless television programs have taken pride in broadcasting his highly commendable productions. Currently, Mishary Rashid Alafasy is an Imam leading prayers at the Grand Mosque in Kuwait.
